There are two types of Starting Points course. One is for Volunteers registering to work alongside us, and the second is our in-house programme looking at employability…

Starting Points – Employability…

Whether we find ourselves out-of-work for the first time, or have been unemployed for a short time, Starting Points may be the programme you are looking for, to help you make changes in your approach to job seeking. We are all aware of the experience of signing-on and proving we are seeking work; you may have been registered on a short course to look at why you have not found work yet. Starting Points is different. We have each been on a career path since we left school… we may have had parents in work or parents who were in receipt of benefits. We may have done well at school and got GCSE’s or A Levels, maybe even University, yet we cannot find work. Whatever your background, we want to help you find your mojo… We want to help you to help yourself through positive self esteem and identification of key skills that will help you to make a CV stand out.

Starting Points – Volunteering…

We want you to get the best experience out of volunteering in the Storehouse. Each aspect of what we do, has people who volunteer to make it happen. You will often be the public face of the Storehouse, which may put you in a position of responsibility to act and say things that represent the values of the Storehouse. There is an element of exposure in this role where you need to be aware of how to keep yourself safe through establishing good boundaries, and how to look out for others, who you might perceive to be at risk or an influence. We want all of our guests to feel safe when they visit us, and you make that possible. On the course, we will look at policies, procedures, vision and values.
